Yamaha HP-1000 is believed to be virtually identical to YH-1000. HP-1000 is even more rare than YH-1000 on the used market, since in many years no one ever seen one come-up for sale, until recent auction on Yahoo Japan.

General Description of the Sound

According to a accounts of a few lucky owners YH-1000 (this should applicable to as well HP-1000) sounds: very clear and accurate, with good transient response. It's is not perfectly flat but should be better than any other Yamaha Orthodynamic headphone.
